should be a late if my memory serves me correctly. differences, turbo, injectors, intake plenums, earlies have no intake heater, those are the main differences. not a big deal. injectors are a bit smaller so they have a bit less power stock.
I have an early 99 (02/98) that is stock. Are there any upgrades that I should think about doing right away? I have plans for a cold air intake system and new exhaust when the moneys available.
Thanks tjbeggs. There is so much great info here that it helps when I see a post that coincides with what's going through my head at the moment. Any suggestions on those gauges? I have an auto tranny.
autometer has very nice gauges. which ones depends on what look and price range you are looking into. as for which gauges would what you need. you need a Pyrometer (exhaust gas temp), and a transmission temp gauge, the third most get is a boost gauge. But the first two are most important.
take your time and search our sponcers for a good price..the links i posted just give you an idea what you need..when you ready for a chip or tuner with an early 99 i wouldnt get nothing but a DP tuner..>>http://www.dp-tuner.com/
I am seriously considering the MKO exhaust. But as far as the air intake I was wondering if anyone has used the Volant system? I just picked up the answer to the difference between early and late 99 air intakes from another thread, thanks to Ron.
Thanks for the gauge info. Ive added that to the wish list.

Don't watse your money on a brand name intake.
Search 6637 intake, or Kwikk filter
costs about 30 bucks, filters and flows as well or better than other more expensive setups.
