Factory Propane: Engine Code 9.
I'm hoping someone here can tell me.. 1990 E-150/Econoline with 4.9l Propane only. The VIN shows an engine code of 9. VERY HARD to find data about it. Neither Haynes or Chilton even mention this flavour. All Data confirms that this is the 4.9l/300 Propane. Since the VIN reflects this I can only presume it's factory. Which makes sense.
However, I found a CANP solenoid connected to the wiring harness. The solenoid obviously looks used, and neither air input or output were connected. It was just "sitting" between the intake manifold and valve cover. Since I've removed, drivability seems a bit better.
According to my research, the whole concept of CANP is to "recycle" gasoline vapours when the engine is off. But this is a propane setup! The are no gasoline vapours!
Can anyone give a good reason as to why this unit could be connected?
Thoughts?
Thanks all.
