Looking to get exhaust on truck. Currently stock. Want a system to make it sound better and run better. Middle of the road system. Any ideas on the best buy?
Cheapest route is to delete the muffler and replace it with a piece of straight pipe.
Next would be to replace the muffler with a Walker Big Truck Muffler.
Next best is the full 4" exhaust. MBRP, Magnaflow are a couple popular brands. You can get either of these from various site sponsors.... www.itpdiesel.com is a great one.
A number of folks here have a full 5" system, usually from Mark R. on ebay... great value (well-priced ), and sounds killer.
My recommendation would be an MBRP 4" or Magnaflow 4" (which is a bit more mellow, tad quieter than the MBRP), unless you're looking to go cheap, then go with the muffler delete or Walker BTM. If you're wanting cool looks and sound, go with the 5" system (or a set of stacks ).
Another vote for the Cannon. Also, good to see some input along with the "thread moved" thing Ryan. I know you are busy watching them but many times I see you move something I know you could simply answer and it sits there. On a positive note, they find where they need to be. Keep up the good work.
Sometimes I'll be too busy in the Super Duty forum with muh duties... so I'll just note that it was moved, then get back to it, and rely on you guys to take it from there.
I do keep an eye on them via my Subscribed Threads, and if nobody has replied after a while I'll try to go back to it and see if I can give any input.
Don't do anything less than the Cannon. If you get that little 4" system you'll kick yourself whenever a 5" system goes past you.
There is no substitution for the sound of a 5".
Nearly two years later I'm still rolling down the windows and grinning.
I vote for the 5" as well. I'll probably never make enough power to fully utilize it, but you can't beat the look and sound of a 5" straight pipe. I ordered mine this week from http://stores.ebay.com/MKO-DIESEL-PERFORMANCE and hope it gets here in time for a weekend install.
