25 to 35 dollars for the key depending on the dealership plus they charge you to program the key

10 - 15 dollars on e-bay and if you have the original 2 keys, you can program them yourself.

Been there, done that on all three of my "chip" Fords. WalMart cut them free for me (they didn't have anything to scan). Took me longer to get the manual out for the programing instructions than it did to program them.

Just make sure the key is for your model and year. Other than that, the instructions on how to program them are in your owners manual. Ford uses the same key for several models and years.

The truck reads the ID of the key chip when you program it and puts it in it's memory.

Remember, you MUST have the 2 original keys to program the new one. If you don't, it's off to the dealer to have them, or a locksmith, do it.

programming is easy to do with the 2 original keys. just place one in the ignition, turn to on but dont start, turn off and remove. then repeat with the second original key. lastly, put the "new" key in and do the same thing. once you remove the key, it will be programmed.

The Blank number 599114 even has the Ford logo on it. They are Identical to my wife's Five Hundred keys also.
Actually you are not programing the key to the truck. You are programing the truck to the key.
If you pay at the locksmith then the key is getting programed to match the original key
