There is a brand new store for Jasper not far from me and I was going to exchange one of my tired IDI's with them. They have always been top quality with good prices in the gas engines they have built or rebuilt etc. Figured why not drop the coin and get a warranty. Rumblings in the force say Jasper is a good way to go.

When i 1st. looked at this truck the salesman told that it had a new engine, I asked for the name of the PO & he gave it I contacted them & he confirmed it, the PO told me that it was a Jasper engine so I contacted jasper & they confirmed that they had sold an engine for that vin #, They said that I should find their sticker & product # on the bottom of the engine I went underneath the truck & found their sticker. I am convinced that this is indeed a rebuilt jasper engine with 70,000 miles on it.

Good For Me !!!

when rural metro had a repair facility up the road, all their drive-line components came from jasper. but they could not get over 20k miles out of an engine, or 40k out of a trans. so they stopped dealing with them, and went to a local machine shop. total refurbish of a 7.3 price dropped almost$1,000, and the engine life went up to over 200k miles. the trans shop they started to use is a friend of mine, and they only had to pull 1 trans after it was rebuilt cause there was a problem with the valve body from the start.

so i guess it all boils down to who is doing the work as to whether it is going to be any good or not.
i would imagine they must have a satellite shop somewhere on the east coast, i cant see them sending everything back to Wyoming for rebuilding and then shipping back all over the country.

I have some friends that run a repair shop here.
They used to be Jasper resellers, but there got to be so many warranty claims they dropped Jasper as a supplier for engines and transmissions.

Jasper has been around since the 40's It was started by a man that owned a Ford dealer. Their main location is in Jasper Indiana.

I have seen bad components from there and I have seen ones that lasted also. Jasper components are common around here where live because I am not to far from Jasper Indiana.

Mine has about 70,000 miles on it and no problems so far, I hope that I got one of the good ones.

When I tried reman 7.3 engines, I went through three in 28,000 miles.
That was enough for me.
Never will a sleeved engine be installed in my truck again.

Dave, I kind of remember that.

Where'd the engines come from?

I've heard great things about Diesel Auto Services engines.

Reviva is the remanufacturer, lots of places handle them just like the Jaspers.
The sleeves dropped in every one of them cracking the block.
That is why I went back to a 6.9 engine, you can bore them without sleeving them.
