One parts guy at a local dealership told me that excursions didnt have v-10's . Mayb it was his first day."Monsta:Yes, they changed them in 01. I suggested 03 simply so the parts guy couldn't possibly make any mistakes when he ordered it."
I've replaced the cup holders in all three vehicels, the last cup holder to replace is the dash cup holder in the Excursion. A couple years ago did the center cup holder swap in the 00 X.
The F250 and F350 both have the newer style dash cup holder which are 100 times better than the original ones. The new ones have the side that moves so no matter what size cup you have it grabs onto it. At 215K miles the F250's was toast and at 120K miles the F350's was toast.
Prices are strange though for 03 dash cup holders. Gray ones are $53 and tan onces are $117. Only thing I can think of is because most Limiteds and Lariats have the tan interior they can charge more? Maybe! Haven't tried it yet but will be on the Excursion but you may be able to swap out the front cover if you buy the cheaper gray cup holder.
Are these cupholders black plastic with the color painted on? I have a very small nick in the paint on y center counsole lid and i see its black plastic underneath.
Im worried cause i usually throw my work keys in the cup holders but ive been trying not to in fear of scratching the paint off if it is painted. Ive been using the cd holder inside the ceneter counsole to hold my keys for now. At $15 bux i may just buy a spare for when mine gets all beat up from use over the years. Im kinda picky about lil stuff like that.
These cupholders are already dyed durning the injection mold process. So they will not flake off. I use my cupholders for everything. coins, tools sockets, cell phone, straw wrapers, screws, nail, and spare keys. Oh and what the cupholders were made for... Drinks

Cool, just dont want the paint rubbbing off like in the steering wheel.
what is the trick to get it in the metal slider thing that bolts in the dash... it just won't go in...
used ones are hard to find and i don't want to break it...
3 dealers gave me 3 different prices on new... from $70 to $120...

OK, then what is that second pair of cup holders below? or is that just sitting there in that picture?
lol the cupholder thats on the floor is the update cupholder. I just put it there to see the difference of the old and new cupholder when I took the picture at the time.
Does anybody know if there are updated cupholders for the 3rd row because those are pretty shallow also. It looks like the Explorer still uses that style cupholder in the 3rd row, I wonder if its deeper.
You can see them somewhat on the quarter-panels on the driver and passenger side.
I was also wondering if one could somehow put the door storage/cupholder map pocket like the one in the picture from the supercab Super Duties on the small carpeted area of the rear doors on the Excursion.
