the recent post about using the tornado fuel saver to get more power has me thinking...
i don't want it so much for power as i do mpg's. if these things worked AND didn't harm the truck, why wouldn't they install something similar from the factory. i'm sure they work otherwise so many people wouldn't buy them, but DO THEY HARM THE TRUCK? opinions?
i don't want this to start some war about which air filter is better, etc. but, for $50, i'd consider dropping one of these in.
Yeah I really can't believe that people buy that stuff. The best way to increase horsepower and mileage is to reduce retrictions on air coming into the engine and the exhaust leaving the engine. Not sure why something that you put in the intake tube to obstruct the direct path of air to the engine would claim to increase horsepower....not only that but how could this "vortex" possibly be maintained from the intake into the cylinders...I might understand if it were a straight shot into the cylinders but it's not in my truck. the physics of it all just don't make sense. Think about NASCAR using restricter plates in races to limit power. same idea.
Soon as I get through paying the shop for installing the new syncrofurbishers, I'll get some of that blinker fluid from ya. They said mine's low. By the way, what's the proper fee (EPA fees included) for exchanging stale for new air in my tires? I think I got ripped off.
was this a serious question? i thought i was gonna have a war on my hands when i openned this and figured a mutiny was going to happen when i closed it
id have to disagree tom. we all know new pipes on some cars improves power and fuel consumption and they dont put them on (yea i know there are emission laws, they would find a way around it)
Matt things like pipes not only are an emission issue but it's money, dual exhaust and free flowing mufflers are more expensive than a single exhaust system and the cheapest muffler they can buy that won't rust out in the 36/36000 warrenty.
Think about it this way if they save $5 per vehicle, and sell 100,000 vehicles the CEO can take another vacation with his mistress.
Not only the cost issue, but can you imagine the companies that would go under if trucks came straight from the factory with everything you could ever put on a truck? Not to mention its fun to buy parts and upgrade. I would have been bored if my truck already had all the mods on it that i want to do. But on the flip side, i guess my bank account would be in better shape...
Best way to increase gas mileage and performance is to add the Tornado and replace the muffler bearing, that way the air spins going in and coming out. When that darn muffler bearing goes out and the exhaust quits spinning on its way out mileage drops to almost nothing!
