Okay that was my question in the first place baddad ;( Do I have to turn the distributor to change the firing order or what? I am confused now. Set me straight please....?
When you're ready to reinstall the distributor, you first need to get the #1 piston at TDC of the firing stroke. Easiest way is to line up TDC on the balancer to the timing pointer then look at the valve springs on #1 (you'll still have the covers off for this) If both springs are fully extended, you're at TDC on the firing stroke. Now, turn the distributor rotor to where it's pointing away from the front or the module side of it. Stick it down in the hole and wiggle it to get the oil pump drive seated in the shaft bottom. Some times you may have to adjust the pump drive to get it oriented correctly to the inside of the shaft bottom (the shaft is hex shaped, and it's got to line up with the hex female in the bottom of the distributor shaft) When everything's right, the distributor will seat all the way down to the point where the hold down clamp sits flat against the shoulder it fits on (the distributor). At this point the rotor should point to about the 12-1 o'clock position, looking toward the rear of the vehicle. You then replace the dist cap and wires, starting with #1, then thru the correct order, counterclockwise around the cap.
