OK, I'm building a wicked 302. Unfortunately, it's not a roller block
I know I can retro fit it, but awful expensive.
What I was thinking about....I want the 302 HO firing order, which is the same as the 351W. I know 302 cams are interchangable with the 351W's. So my question is, changing to a 351W cam/firing order does that affect what balancer I run on the crank?
Balancer on the crank is dependent upon how the crank was balanced. You don't change the balancer weight unless the entire rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons, connecting rods, balancer, flexplate/flywheel) is rebalanced.
Cam will only affect firing order.
And for what it's worth, I'd switch to the 351/5.0ho firing order too. From what I hear it's better that way.
i rebuilt my 90 5.0 and the lunati cam i used changed the firing order to the 302 ho/351. Comp cams do the same i believe. I think its a pretty common practice with aftermarket cams but i'm no expert.
Newbie question: When using these cams and changing the firing order, is it as simple as re-routing the distributer wires to the different plugs or do the injectors and computer have to be changed as well? I have a 1991 speed density intake.

Thanks
Trucks are bank fired. Injectors fire 4 at a time. Ford used the same wiring on 351's as 302's. You don't need to mess with the injectors.
If you had an engine with sequential fired injectors, then you would need to change them to match the firing order.
Just change the plug wires. Don't mess with the injector wires.
As for the computer... Ford speed density isn't all that it could be. But as long as the cam is compatible with it, then the firing order doesn't matter.
