H.O. roller cam
It seems like I have an odd motor. I have a 84 H.O. motor with the HO fire order. I have had several people tell me that HO's weren't aroung in 84, but the motor was advertised as a HO from Ford. I have stumped the local Ford guru's with this motor.
Anyway my question is do all HO motors have roller cams? Thanks

No - early HO 302's and 351's had a Ford marine (as in boat) hydraulic flat tappet cam. In 85, the HO 302 got a roller cam. Trucks only got them in 94 or 95 i think. The roller cam 302's make a nice truck motor, but it's no pavement scorcher.

Trucks got them somewhat earlier than '94, I have a roller motor out of an '89 Bronco. I seem to remember hearing that they began appearing in trucks around '88 or '89. But it was just a roller cam motor, not an H.O. -TD

The truck 5.0 got a slightly smaller cam than the HO in 94. This is the F4TE cam. Same HO firing order but slightly less lift and duration than the HO. But much bigger than the earlier "base" roller that it replaced.
