Yeah there are a bunch of really awesome trucks on here.. could be truly awesome if we ever got all of us together in one place (with our trucks of course)
We spend years not being able to drive our trucks while they're being restored or modified. When they're done, we don't drive them in case something happens. Right now I have a Ranger Edge for my 60 mile round trip to work and back every day. I need the mileage, reliability and creature comforts of a new truck. But when I retire I'm gonna find me a beat up old 48-56 Ford pickup in drivable condition and run the darn thing till the wheels fall off.

I would start looking now if possible, the right one at the right price isn`t always easy to find and they`re not making any more of em..
You will have more time to get a good idea of what`s out there.

I hear ya. That idea was exactly what bothered me about most nice older trucks. I bought my 56 a little over 4 years ago and drove it every day for 3 years. I did most of the mods to it as a rolling resto so I could keep driving it. It has been down almost a year now finishing the metal and body work and I hope to have it back on the road this spring. Then I'll be driving it again every day.
It's driving me crazy to not drive it. I'm just not into garage art.
I had projects for over ten years that were so far in the works I couldnt drive them. I finally got fed up and bought a driver (49 Ford 2 door Sedan)
I keep it drivable for cruis einns and small shows. I hope to have my F1 on the road inside of 2 years. The only thing stopping me is money.
Just took a look at your pickup Bobby. Pretty cool. What's your plan? The world's sneakiest Effie?

Thanks Army,
LOL, the truck is turning into quite a Frankenstien. The truck kind of found me, it wasn't really what I was looking for in a project but it sure has turned out to be a whole lotta fun. Basically the truck is a big learning curve. I've always been a gar guy and have had tons of old cars and trucks. Most of my modifications in thepast have been upgrades of existing components, built engines, etc. With this truck I am trying out sorts of different things and learning how to do alot of stuff. Right now I'm working on developing metalworking skills
Not sure where it will end up, I guess someday I will make it "purty"
Now that its finally driveable I'm having a ball just cruising it.
I know many people who build these amazing trucks just to put them in the back of some trailer and drive them from show to show. if your going to spend the money and time on a ol' truck you may as well but it all to the test and drive your truck all the time... you build 'em to drive'em
I won't be able to start looking yet. Got a `50 M47 that I'm gonna need to spend all my spare cash and time on for a while. I'm not complaining though. Not even a little bit. Here's why: www.gofastgarage.com/50merc.htm
