I would want to know what's under the console.

Should be easy to remove, I think there are 4 screws inside the console holding it down.

my 2000 model has carpet under the console with 4 bosses for the hold down screws in the floor. I removed mine for a while but have now reinstalled it

felt about like driveing a van or something, you don't realize how far down to the floor it is until the console is gone

I took mine out on my 03 f250 lariat and built a console that houses a 15" lcd monitor and a full computer and (2) 15" mtx 9500 subs. There are four bolts from inside the console. There is carpet under it except where the where the screws go. You would probably want to cover these little areas somehow. it's easy to take the four bolts out and see for yourself what yours looks like and decide if you want to do it.

seems like a big waste of space to have nothing there, but to each his own
