If you talked to the local rep or dealer you will get the run around often. Same with Crysler. I bought a jeep from them, paid cash up front. Three months later my jeep still hadn't been delivered so after a heated discussion with the dealer and local rep I called corporate headquaters. Next day got a call from the dealer saying my jeep was readsy for me to pick up. Found out that my jeep had been sitting in a railyard on a siding in Oakland for much of the time. Pays to go right to the top.
I'm sure that helps but should not be required to get the Basic service due
with warranty. Any decent dealer would have taken care of this without issue.
The dealer drop the ball on this one, and he knows it.
He hopes you go away with only your pocket hurt, maybe trade it and
buy a new truck from him. Dealer or Ford need to make this right.
I had a warranty claim declined on a motorcycle once,
I took it to another dealer and call headquaters. They approved the work. According to claims office the first dealer had not filed a claim, but he told me it was declined.
I guess he thought I was going to fork over the money.
He filed the claim later and got paid even though he did do any work.
I found this on my second claim when Claims informed me that they had paid two claims for the first problem.
Bottom line, talk to the top if you don't get help on the bottom.
This whole thing was made more complicated by the fact that the truck broke down and was towed to a dealer separate from my local purchase/repair store. Ford says I shouldn't see a difference in service, but we all know from experience that that is rarely possible.
On another note, since they said the problem was caused by a broken glowplug, does anyone have a difinitive answer on when you should have them changed out? My dealer originally told me just to wait until they fail. Is this a good idea? Do they normally break, or is my situation rare?
