It'll also be quieter with the cat than without. But again, "quietness" is pretty relative or objective. I don't think straight pipes on our trucks are very loud, personally... others might think they're obnoxious. If you've got the windows up, I don't think you'll notice much difference.
Ryan, is it much louder at idle? I used to have a 87 Chevy with 3" pipe, flowmaster and 4" tips. I can't imagine much being louder than that, at idle or full throttle. I want the performance gain, but don't want to make the truck as loud as my old one.
It is certainly louder at idle back near the tailpipe, but not obnoxious at all... it actually sounds real nice, I think. When the EBPV closes and the idle raises up on a cold warmup, though, it shrieks like a banshee.

Be sure to mention that they should rotate the "s-pipe" that is just before the muffler 180* so that its outlet is up top, rather than down low. This will put that pipe in line with the tailpipe (it was downward, stock, because of the muffler entering low and exiting high).
check out the link in my other post..post# 16 for a good system..a stock 3 1/2 pipe will still sound good.. but nothing like what you heard on that clip..
If you delete the muffler on the stock system, the sound characteristics will be the same as those sound clips from Kwikk, but the sound will not be as deep and low/rumbly. It'll be just slightly higher pitched, if that's the proper term.

I want that RUMBLE sound. That "waa-waa-waa" sound is what I love. Hate to say it...but the Cummins sound is killer. If I could get that low, deep, diesel sound I would love it.
