I have an 05 F150 and an 05 F350. The 150 has bench and the the 350 capt. chairs. Different vehicles, but the capt. chairs are so much closer to car seats (well, not GM cars' seats) and so much firmer that I almost don't like driving my 150. Even with the stiff ride dealt by my dually with the hd suspension, I prefer the firmer capt. chairs. I am 6'0" and 200 +\- (mostly +) and I have plenty of room in the 350 with the little arm rests - of which I am quite fond! I had a couple of 6'3", 270+ guys working for me and they had plenty of room, too. I wish I could fit the seats from my last GTI in, as they were the best Recaro wannabes you could find, but that won't happen. The 350 capt's are as close as I can get in a pulling machine.
I'm too big to be comfortable with the bench with the center armrest down, but at least with it down I can rest my arm. More freedom and comfort with the captains ,but the complaint I have is arm rest is almost useless for me. Too low! I have to slouch, lean to the right and have to have my arm tight to my side to even use it. Not very comfortable at all. My friends 01 Chevys arm rests are useless to, but the seats blow my Fords away in comfort. Ford is pretty stiff to me. My dads 03 F150 has the bench and it kills me after 60 miles or so. Atleast the captains are a little more forgiving.

Well just for giggles I went to RECARO's website to see if they offered anything for what we drive.............Should have known better..........Nice seats though..............
The captains chairs and the split bench seats are the same seats. They have the same shapes, contours, etc. The bench just has the flat, basic seat connecting the two outer seats. Of course the captains chairs have those armrests that fold down, but then the split bench as a big huge armrest that folds down and is quite a bit more roomy, longer, etc... you can move your arm around on it instead of having to hold it in one spot.
Remove the middle seat on the split bench, drop in a center console/bin, and bolt on a couple little armrests, and you have the captains chairs.
The XL bench seat is another story... not very comfortable, for me.
One more thing . . . you asked about the two color choices. I have Arizona Beige in the 150 and Dark Shadow in the 350, both cloth. The beige definitely shows more dirt, spills, etc. I am pretty picky with detailing my trucks and keeping them clean. The beige seems to show every little thing, where as the gray is much more forgiving. From a personal preference of color alone, I prefer the beige. If you'll be hauling around a sweaty crew of guys, dogs, kids or anything of that ilk, you'll appreciate the gray. BTW, my 350 came out of FL (so did I, 15 years ago) and it was driven from the panhandle to points south, 60k in one year. The previous owner hauled his crew, whom I have decided are the dirtiest s.o.b.'s to ever ride in a truck. I removed the interior, cleaned it down to the wires, and steam cleaned the seats. Now it looks like an 05 ought to look. I though that was good a testament to the durability of the gray interior.

Thanks for the input on the color. I am going to go there today and drive them. The captains are in the dark shadow and the bench is in the Arizona. That is funny that you said the beige shows everything, I would have thought just the opposite. I thought that the dark shadow would show everything kind of like a black truck would.
I have the Arizona Beige leather interior. The steering wheel is discoloring in spots. I'm thinking of replacing it with a new one or upgrading it with a wood grain one from an Excursion. With the wood grain it should to me last way longer...
I went and drove both and decided to go with the bench. I liked the center fold down seat as an armrest way better than the armerest on the captains chairs. It was more comfortable for someone that is my size and I will like having the extra seat for my kids. Thank you everyone for your help.
Here are the details of the truck that I will be picking up at the end of next week.

Now is a good time to buy these trucks. I am on A/Z plan and get $3,000 cash back on top of that. I did not want to try my luck with the new 6.4 in the 2008 trucks. Thanks Mike
Congrats on the new truck Mike, it sounds a lot like mine. Take a look in my gallery if you want to see what it would look like with 4.5" lift and 35" tires.

Your truck looks very nice. Now you have me spending more money on the truck and I do not have it yet. How do you like the exhaust? That would be one of the mods I would probably due in the early stages.

Sounds SHARP, man. Be sure to post some pics when you bring her home

I like it. It sounds a little bit meaner than stock but not too loud. You can definitely hear more turbo whistle through it. I am debating getting the Cat delete pipe but haven't yet. I bought the MBRP 4" turbo back pro series kit. It is made of 304 stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty. Figured if I was buying a nice exhaust I might as well go all out.
I have also been told that a nice set of gauges and a coolant filter kit are both great mods to do early on. I'm kind of in the middle of buying/installing all my stereo stuff right now but I think that they will be my next upgrades.
