Yup. But it isn't as easy as putting an 1/8" drill bit in there if you've never done it before. The hole in the plastic colum cover is big and what you're trying to do with the drill bit is hit a tiny little pin that's up in the inner metal column casting. When I was blindly putting the bit in there I was blindly pushing on who knows what and nothing was happening. So I removed the bottom column plastic cover and could finally see what I was aiming for. But you're right. It is darn easy once you learn how to hit the hole. Being able to hit the hole is always such a crucial thing isn't it?
I had no idea that you were shooting in the dark through the bottom of the cover for the release button.
Make it easy on yourself next time & pull the 3 phillips head screws & unscrew the tilt rod if so equipped, drop the cover & it'll be staring at you...
