I've been with State Farm since I turned 16. That is over 23 years. That is how they treat their "valued" long-time customers. This is the first auto claim on my policy since I hit a deer in 1988. Oh, I guess I've had a windshield or two replaced over the years also.
My agent pursued my case with the claims department, but he got nowhere.
My wife had her first major claim this past summer when her car was stolen... it came to about $8000 in damages.
I am sure State Farm would love to get rid of us.

Got an update today. The Ranger has been re-assembled and has just gotten new paint. It goes over to the Ford dealer next week for airbag reprogramming and an alignment. They hope to have it done by next Friday. (This ordeal has gone on way too long for someone as impatient as me!)
I had state farm with my house fire... they drug it out for 6 months because they couldn;t figure out what startedor caused the fire, so essentially they were looking for arson since it wasn't directly obvious... they did finally pay, and dropped us shortly after. If I had planned on fixing the house, it would have costmore to do it by the time they got done screwing around, as the floors stayed wet all that time, and we were not authorized to do anything. The mold was terrible, and plywood floors don't take well to staying soaked for months... They did well on the one vehicle claim I had with them, but the house fire was a nightmare...
It's good to hear that they're getting your rig back together. It's still too bad what happened. Ice has always been the one thing I've hated driving on even though I've been taught how to handle it by a truck driver (my dad), it sometimes isn't enough. Oh well, it's good you're OK and that your truck's almost fixed.
As far as insurance companies dropping clients because they actually have to redeam a claim......THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!!!! What's the point of insurance if you get dropped when making a claim. Yes, it was a high cost claim with a house fire, but that's what mortgage insurance is there for. Did they just think you burnt your own house down to claim insurance money?
That's kind of what I thought, found a bs rule to dump me, that hadn't been an issue before... I had car parts outside, and the yard wasn't mowed, due to being unliveable... while I was waiting for them to settle this happened...
Got the truck back today. I am happy to be done with Enterprise Car Rental, they are complete idiots and their rental cars are junk. The truck looks like new. I picked it up at 5:00pm and drove the 100 miles south to Omaha. I am already concerned with a driveline vibration that is pretty noticeable at 60 MPH.
The total repair bill sits at $13,300. The shop said they have a few items to add on yet, probably a couple hundred more dollars.
Guess I can say I am driving a total "frame off" restoration. Too bad the restoration was on a 4 month old truck.
So now that you've got some miles on your frame off restoration project do you think it's gonna be OK? P.S. has any of this affected your title? I'm quessing probably not since she was never junked. Just wondering...... can't think they'd brand you with "salvage title" if ins company fixed it. Good luck with it.
There is a pretty annoying vibration somewhere in the drivetrain at around 60mph. Gotta take it back in for that. Everything else seems to be normal.
According to the insurance company, if they authorize repairs, no matter what the total comes to, the truck is as good as new.... no salvage title, etc.
