You are correct mr. King. The bigger 55 engines were red! You must have the same dealer brochures I have. All 56 engines were yellow, though. There was a guy on here years ago that had a beatiful 55 f100. He went by the name effie. You can see his truck in the gallery. It was a dark blue. It had a yellow engine. The truck came with a special order bigger engine. He then had it painted the correct color red. I saw it at the carlisle truck show. It was one of the featured trucks in the show building. So if you have a 239 or a 6 cyl itshould be red.

Whoops! Big mistake: it should read: if you have said "if you have a 55 239 or a 6 cyl it should be yellow."
I highly recommend getting POR-15 engine enamel. it brushes on and lays flat. looks glossy, smooth and resistant to oils. basically like powdercoating your engine block. I did it to my 1950 buick super and man that thing turned out nice. they make it in all different stock engine colors. I still can't believe they had the correct 1950 buick turquoise engine color.
