I'm new to this site and I am also new to diesel engines. I have a 2000 F-250 Crew cab, 4x4, 7.3 PSD. 6spd, 140,000 miles, No mods, no gauges (yet). I have had this truck for about a year and 1/2. And up until now I have loved it. I recently started a new job which requires me to use my truck. I tow travel trailers from New Orleans to Baton Rouge daily. Two a day. And ocasionaly from B.R. to hope Arkansas. When I'm not towing, the truck runs great, it will pass anything out there. But the second I put a trailer behind it, I can barely maintain highway speeds. I know how these trucks are supposed to pull. Thats why i bought it. There were a few oil leaks and I changed the o-rings that were leaking on some plugs inside of the engine valley. Not sure what the plugs are called. I changed the fuel filter, and air filter, I also run fully synthetic oil. I dont know very much about what makes these engines tick. So I'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
To start with I would check for boost leaks. Make sure all 6 boots on the intercooler pipes and intake Y are clean and tight. the oild from the CCv has a tendency to seep out and can cause a leak.
Welcome to FTE. I would agree with Alan. Boost leak. Make sure to check all the boots. Better yet, pull them and clean them and do the CCV mod. Best way to check a boost leak is with a boost gauge. Do you have any gauges?
It is where the crankcase gasses and oil are routed outside the turbo inlet thus reducing the oily residue in the entire intake system is all but eliminated. When doing this, most clean/degrease the boots. Look for the link on 7point3.com
Edit: I did not find it there as quick as I would like. Do a search on the site.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. been working alot. anyway, tried everything you guys said, and alot more, finally just got fed up with it. I brought it to the stealership. Just got a call from them and they cant even find anything wrong. this is starting to get rediculous. I dont want to sell my truck but its looking like its coming down to that. Does anyone have any others ideas? It runs so good when its enpty, but if it cant tow I cant afford to keep it.
