it started with a wierd drone at idle, today when i cruise at steady 50 i have 0 boost and egt is at 700 and it sounds like the ebpv is open or closed which ever it is like on a cold morning,

1. is it something to fix quick b4 some bad damage?
2. is it easy enough to fix on my own?
3. I will be going to the desert this friday so i need to tow is better no to?
4. would it be worth taking to a shop since im on short time?

 

No boost? Check all your boots. One may have come off or is ripped.

 

I noticed the same thing with my truck the last couple of days. Except it was happening aroung1300-1400 rpms, not matter what speed. I figured it was because its been below freezing though. Your in cal though so its probably not that cold.

 

Unplug/disable your EBPV and see if you get boost then. If not, you have a major boost leak. Can you not get any boost at all?

 

if i apply throttle i get boost, everything runs normal its just when i get to 50-55 mph and cruise there my boost goes away and it sounds like the ebpv is closing.....so more throttle i get boost stay there and no boost per the boost gauge

I would disable the EBPV and unplug the wastegate red tube and put it on a boot clamp and check it then. If no joy, ensure the wastegat is closed.

 

Yeah, disable the EBPV.
Now this new droning sound: something has to be letting that sound out. I would take everything apart on the intake side until you find the hole.

 

do you think that the 6637 may be bouncing around causing that wierd noise its hard to describe I only hear ir at idle, How do I disable the ebpv?

Well if your probe is pre-turbo and the EBPV is malfunctioning, that heat is getting trapped.

Classic EBPV. When mine was in I coud floor it and build ZERO boost, egt's would 1250º+ and I could go about 20mph.
