can somebody out there please please hook me up with an oasis report for my 03 f450 [6.0] as i did not learn of the potential problems with these trucks.I just brought this truck up from Indiana, and it smokes alot after start up and at idle when warm [greyish white]
I'm not one to send out an OASIS report, but what I can tell you is that it had headgaskets replaced in September, an oil cooler replaced in February, ICP sensor, glow plug relay and one fuel injector replaced in 2005, and a hydraulic pump problem back when it was new. It looks like it's been a bit troublesome.
well big red because i just bought the truck and only logged 200 miles i do not have much of a baseline, the only symptons i can verify is the excessive smoking, and hard starting[first turn of the key,it fires for 2 seconds then dies then takes another two or three 20 second turns before starting and running fine as far as i can tell except lots of smoke.I also had seperate issue with the electric fan engaging and disengaging[sounds like a siren]at hwy. speed.
And thanx for the oasis info Canada guy,Im sure it will prove helpful.
P.S Can anyone recommend a reputable service department in the Kitchener,Ontario Canada area
TravisThere is a good dealer in Woodstock. 403 Hwy at Wayne Gretzky Parkway.
Name fails me right now. They do a lot of deisel sales and have had good reports about them. If you ever get to Niagara Falls Brock Ford IMO is the best in the area for diesels. Its a long way but check it out if you are ever in the area.

That almost sounds like a glow plug issue. Does the smoke have a very strong raw fuel smell to it?
It may be just that. On the passenger side rocker cover (or somewhere in that area if it has been moved to install a hydraulic pump) is a silver module, about 5 inches long with a green connector and a black connector... Sometimes the connectors come loose. Might be worth a try to see if that's all that is going on.
