Today I was moving the spare tire around and found a rectangular piece of something. It has about 4 to 5 velco attachments. Looks like a cover to something near the spare. Anyone know what this thing is for? I looked in the owners manual with no luck...
I also found a new raincoat and gloves. Are these OEM products? Does Ford care about me?
There's also a pocket inside the tire cover. I guess this would be #50 storage compartment!

That's the cover for the wide handle at the bottom-rear of the 3rd row seat. Keeps other stuff in the cargo bay from getting knocked hard when it bumps up against the handle. The velcro attaches to the bottom edge of the seat.
Hummh !!!! made me wonder,so I went out and looked and even took the spare tire cover off and .lo and behold, what did I find??? A Firestone tire of the design that was recalled and had never been on the road..That's really cute,I have four Pirrelli (poc) tires and one Firestone (even worse) tire.. Weren't they supposed to replace all five tires on the recall????
Never had to use the spare, but I use the area to store many things.
In the "pocket area" I keep...
1) A different hitch & ball
2) Jumper Cables
3) Tow strap bundled an in a large Zip-Lock Bag
4) Two camping fuel bottles of diesel additive.
On the opposite side where the rear A/C blower is I store a 25' extension cord that I use and carry with me for my block heater and a strap or two... and even more fuel additive bottles (small ones) when I took a week long trip to Florida in the summer and wanted/needed to carry more with me.
When the tint boys were installing the limo tint on my Excursion, they had to remove the spare tire. It had never been out or searched around. They found a small plastic bag with all sorts of goodies in it. I was glad to see the wiring pigtail for towing in the plastic bag. Since it was still new and obviously never used it meant my Excursion had perhaps not ever been used to tow anything. The plastic bag also had an extra key fob in it, brand new.
