Hi Everybody,
I have a 1999 F-250 SD with the 5.4 gas engine and currently am going on 175,000 miles. As of yesterday I have had a problem when I turn off my engine. After the key is off I have several relays that are energizing, and de-energizing until I disonnnect the battery. Sometimes it is the dome light that continues on and off, along with the driver air bag indicator, and sometimes the heater fan will start running. This is all when the key is turned off. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? My current thoughts are that the problem may be in the ignition switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suspect the GEM. I think the f150's had a leaking windshield that dripped right on top of it, but I don't know if the superduty has that issue as well.
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the GEM? I tried to do more troubleshooting today and found that the problem seems to be related to the heater and passenger airbag circuit. When the problem exists a relay can be heard clicking in the vicinity of the heater controls. Then when the heater switch is placed in the off position. the relay stops and the passenger air bag light goes out. This all happens when the key is turned off. When the heater switch is in any position other than off, I can turn the fan swithc to on and the fan will run on all speeds. I read somewhere that there is a heater relay coil that shares the same fuse, (#22) with the passenger air bag. As for now I have removed the battery ground cable as I was concerned the wiring may burn up until I can find the actual cause of the problem. Thanks for your reply.
