i just bought a 2002 400 ex and the plastic fenders wre all sratched to hell. i started sanding them with 100 grit and worked up to wet sanding with 800 grit. all the scratches are gone but how do i resore the shine to the plastic? is there a good polish or rubbing compound that would work good. i know this isn't a ford post but i really need help to restore these fenders
I have tried mother's mag/alum polish and 2000, 4000 grit papers. I haven't found a way to make it shiny yet. You might try a chrome polish and work up to a plastic polish.
If I can remember to bring my glock to work tomorrow, I'll give that a try.
For best results with back to black, I have found (on door handles and such) to brush two or three applications in and cover it with a coat of preserves.
Hey 78 - sorry it took me so long to jump into this one, but here's a link to a thread I posted in the Appearance forum awhile back. Took me a bit to find it.
