Ok got a new to me 1988 ford f-150. I wanna lift it 4 inches and put 33inchers under it. Pretty much the same setup but id like to kno what it the highest i can gear it so that it still has power, but at 65-70 mph it isnt about to blow the motor. It has a 4 speed in it now. Also it has a 300 inline six in it, was wonderin bout puttin in a 302 in it. Should just need to get the right mounts, and get a tranny that will bolt up right?
If you want to save some money, and look better (in my opinion) just trim the fenders for the 33's. 302 will drop right in, but for a truck, I would go with a 351 anyway since your going to be swaping it.
A 351 windsor is the same bolt pattern as a 302 and 300. Nothing about cutting them makes it unworthy. What are you going to use the truck for? just mud, or a daily driver?
Well i plan on buildin it up, and restorin it. I kno there not a prized gem but i wanna have somethin il be proud to drive. My current trucks frame **** the bed and kinda upseted me, cuz the body is mint, and everything in the front steerin and suspension is brand new. I am prolly transfering everything from my current truck onto this one cuz the body is pretty ruff. So if i got a 351 windsor from the same time it will bolt right up. Ok heres my next question, will the four speed tranny i got be strong enough to handle the power from the 351? Will i need to do any mods to mount the 351 in it? And now that im thinkin bout it 4.10s should be pretty good for the 33" tires.
