It's flat ridiculous. About 10k an acre. Place just down the road about 2.5 acres with nice one room cabin is up for 90k. We got 4 acres in a lottery. In the early 80.s. And no I don't want to sell any. But if you are really interested E mail or PM me and I will do some serious research.
ive spoken with my machine shop, been there for over 20yrs. and my mechanic, been doing this for 20 + yrs. for my application stock crank rods, mains and .040 over pistons, there is enough of the oil hole exposed for good lubcation for the mains. and also checked for passage to and from the oil pump clean and large enough.
If you saw that same passage from the pump to the filter pad on a 427, you'd rethink what you just posted. That passage on std FE's is around 5/16". The same passage on the 427's was 1/2". Just this one mod takes little effort and takes a big load off the pump, pump drive & distributor gear.
Sorry boss, a machine shop can be in business 50 years and still
know squat about FE motors, other lesser brands maybe.
There's nothing wrong with running a street motor under utility rpm's
with Ford's misaligned bearing saddle oil passage to bearing inserts.
For some of us that run motors hard at times above 5,000 rpm's it's
extra insurance from unnecessary oil starvation and bearing failure.
Why gamble on wasting a build with 100's of hours on massaged
parts, me I can't do it? I used to rebuild large radial aircraft engines (1830/2800 Pratt's), FAA doesn't believe in good enough, nor do I or you'll lost your license.
On my FE builds every oil hole is aligned not only that the crank oil holes are chamfered with leading and trailing from the chamfer and tailed away. Hell I hand lap new HV pumps in every motor ( not trusting anyone again) plus use every oil modification possible plus a 7" long oil filter and 13 1/2 quart pans.
Oops, I think I may of entered the pissing war zone.

yeah Y Block I was just checking.. as I have a cousin married to a Pilot that have approx.. 2000 arcre's somewhere up there..Been there one time in the mid 70's, and was picked up at the airport with a pontoon plane and another 2 hr flight to the village in which they live..LOL.. I was told at the time they bought there land it went for $1 an acre?
And as far as the oil mods go..As Carl said..and I said before...Under standard driving conditions you wont see any change...But IF you intended to spin the motor faster than stock 4400rpm for the trucks..It is safe insurance but not needed.. And some of Us (carl) like myself (baddad) seems at times to pick fly **** out of pepper!!
It Just runs in a gearheads mentality!! LOL.. Guity as charged!!! LMAO!!
Badad stop and think about the 2 motors.. 1 working under 4500rpm most of its life..and then the 427 in which Nobody I ever knew drove them slow..6500 rpm Clutch offs..on a regular basis.. I meen I'll be the first one to admit..I build over kill..But thats for me...and I must say out of 37 years of Building motor from Brand X on..I have never had a motor come back...I guess thats why I didnt make much money in my shop? I build them as if they were for me to use..LOL..
Well if nothing else Russ come on up. And the Halibut and salmon fishing will be on me.
Boy golly!! I wish i could afford to make thrip up there...I'd be there in a heart beat! Those are my 2 favorite fish..Never had a bad Halibut steak, and I have eaten my weight in them..
And when we go fishing out at are local lake..I make up salmon patty's to take out on the boat with us to go with the beer and Sub sandwichs..lol..
But i have seen them Big Ol Hoss Halibut you guys have up there..I thiught I use to catch some good one down in Cabo San Lucas...but they are like minnows compared to what alaska has!!
I wonder what the cost would be to ship some halibut steaks to VA? Hmmm
Cost of fish? All I need is some gas money and a little luck. Now ya can buy it from the processors an smokeries in the spring when they open up. Whom is what I use to package and ship. Was going to put a boat in the water in the next day or two and do some crabbing and winter king salmon fishing. But she just came back from town with a load of parts so I will be in the shop for a few days. That may rain the snow out of the boats and make it easier to get out there. If I snag a Halibut over 40 pounds (and 300 is common) I will let ya know and we can go from there. Shipped two day air in there freezers works well and isn't that bad. I eat Halibut a couple time a year. Ya you can get tired of it. So if i don't send It to someone it just freezer burns. Ya i think we can make this work. Maybe some shrimp the size of prawns and a few dungeness to fill the 60 pound fish box. We will see, this winter storm don't want to give us a brake.
PS I think we are about to get bumped off this thread. And it would serve us right. PM or E Mail me.

Don't let Greg see this thread he will loose all his green.
What color do you get mixing green with pink? Without
must be dark purple. Me bad back no pink, damn!
Sea bass and sword fish also high on the yummy list as
well fresh abalone not the restaurant crap. Third generation
diver for abalone, tastes better when you worked for it.
Wow, 10K an acre or $.23 a sq/ft, where i'm at it's app
$16 a sq/ft for an empty lot.
What is the best way to add zinc to regular oil also cost wise?
I run regular Valvoline 20/50 the last 258K, not wanting
to change brands. HV pump gets me pressure under 2 seconds
after sitting a few days.
Russ, that VR-1 isn't that straight 50 wt?
Not good for a daily driver as mornings dipped into low 30's lately.

I can get Abalone on a minus tide with hip wader's about 20 minutes from the dock. Now if one had a 1/2 inch or 5/8 wet suit and a snorkel. And of coarse could swim as I do not. One could get 30 to 50 5 and 6 inchers in about an hour.
Got all the Salmon, Halibut, rock cod, crab, etc than you could afford to ship home. So If anyone is planning a vacation around the forth of July. PM or E mail be. You won't be disappointed. And not near as expensive as one would think.
No limit on black abs?
We have 7" minimum for the pink abs and 3 allowed
here in northern California.
Last week they busted two sport divers selling to restautants,
fined $60,000 with lifetime banned license.
They go for 60-$100 each.
