Just wondering how many people have found defects in their Ford trucks
Last Year, I leased a 05 F150 4x4 and drove it home, loved it. Then I had to go over to my Brother-in-law's to show him my new truck (he is a dodge man). While it was sitting in his driveway, he then asked me if it was leaking oil. To my surprise it was. The truck only had 100 miles on it at the time. WTF? was my initial reaction. When I got home, I crawled under the truck and there was an oil sensor that wasn't even screwed in all the way on the side of the pan. Took it back to the dealer and they fixed it. When I got it back, I looked under the truck to see if that really was the case and sure enough, the sensor was screwed back in. My guess, it was screwed out about 3/4 inch. Couldn't have had just a couple of threads screwed in initially. And oh, they told me it was 2 quarts low on oil.
Sorry to here you had trouble,And glad you got it in time.
I got a new 06 screw, and now have 9000 miles and nothing wrong,I kept thinking"something is not right",but it is a good truck. no defects.
The headlights came on every time I started it,but that was me,I keep my hat on the dash and it was blocking the sensor.
Good luck with the truck

Guys, I know you expect alot from a brand new truck that stickers for over 30K. However being a Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere for almost a year I have seen how a lot of defects can get through, that what your warrenty is for. I won't say what product we make, but an average in the double digits of defects gets to the customer in the first 10 hours of opperation. We all have high standards but you have to remember that manufactured products will have defects. Good Luck!
Talk about defects, I have had and 04 F-350 with the 6.0 PSD that after 3 months in the shop and all that time spent in a F150 loaner truck it was bought back. I got a new 06 F-150 Lariat which I LOVE and after only 220 miles the camshaft in the right cyl. head was wiped out and the truck would barely run. Needless to say I was not happy. The dealer got me into another F150 loaner and gave me the option of keeping the 06. I opted to keep it cause I Love it that much and they thanked me for my patience and all the special tools were not in yet, I ordered the truck in 05 when my SD was in the shop, they also hooked me up with a 5yr 60,000 0 $$ detuctable premium care warranty. So I am once again a happy customer. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone and they are more than willing to help. I have found that as long as you are nice they will help.
Well first i want to say I love my truck and are very happy with it. First day I drove home the rears sensors stopped working, and the electronic ac system has a delay in cooling since day one. Other than that its a nice truck.
Isn't that the truth (in most cases) When it comes down to it, I try to treat the dealer just as I would my best friend because A: It wasn't their fault and B: they deal with a lot of A-holes and being nice to them pretty much puts you on their Christmas list (figure of speech of course). Santa crashed in 1974 over Cuba.
I also had a 02 Mustang, 3.8 L. Loved it, but after about 10K miles, the car wouldn't hold a idle on occasion and just die. Took it to Ford and told me they couldn't find the problem. After the car kept doing that on occasion, I took it in again, and they still couldn't find a problem. At this point I still was being nice, even though they told me, basically to deal with it. Well, finally the 3rd time I had to get pretty upset because my wife couldn't get the car to run and was stranded in a parking lot with the car full of groceries and it was zero in Temp. outside. She was furious. Took it back to the dealer and told them I don't want it back unless the problem was fixed. After 3 days, I got it back and they told me it was the fuel pump. Well, the car kept doing it so I got rid of it. I did not want to play the cat and mouse game anymore. Traded it in and I have my 05 F150.
When I was younger my Dad bought a new 1982 3/4 ton chevy diesel. He was driving it down the road and it suddenly swerved into the ditch. They had not tightened up the tie rod on one side. The dealership was falling all over themselves to make it right. It also never did run well. It never had the mileage or power it was supposed to. We took it in several times to have it checked and they said they could never find anything wrong. The injector pump went out and when I replaced it the thing ran like a top. It must have been one of those Friday trucks.
I had a hesitation and they re-flashed the puter when it was in for a wiper motor recall. No problems otherwise, 15000+ mi. I love my wifes truck! So does she.
