It's not terribly hard. There's an inspection plate on the front of the bellhousing at the bottom. You remove that (probably have to remove the starter first), then you rotate the engine by hand (pull the coil wire first) until you can see the drain plug for the torque converter.
And when you do it add one of these inline filters.
I did mine, you don't have to cut the line or anything. 10 min job.
Watch the torque on that TC drain plug. It's a tapered thread. Use teflon tape. I couldn't find a torque spec on the plug and didn't get it tight enough, had to remove the rubber inspection cover and tighten it some more.
Ah, okay, I think I understand. I've always wondered what that bell housing plate was for! Quite easy to remove on my C6 auto. Stared at it a lot during my rear seal job this past week or so. Sounds like a tranny drain is in my summer's schedule.
I have oil coming out of the bottom (from behind) of that plate though.
