Been stuck at home for 3 days now . the R.M hasnt passed yet with the grader. The drifts across the roads are 4 ft. high and hard as a rock lol. I'm only 2.5 kms off the main highway! The wifes happy though shes off work and now its the weekend lol. Hopefully they will come today.
One of the nieghbour`s drive way had 4 to 6 ft high drifts for over 200 ft. It`s abit of extra work to clear that with the Bobcat even with the big snow bucket when the snow is so hard packed from the wind.
I did get it done though resulting in some pretty high snow banks.
I sit on R.M. council. The boys are struggling out there. We have two really new Cat 160's and operators with lots of experience. One machine has a v-plow. Normal time to make a pass around the RM is about 3 days, this time they predict 5-6 days! There are places the v wont push through! Our yard isn't too bad but around some of our bales is another story. The one area has snow up to where you can only see the top row of bales, the other two layers are buried - thats over 10' probably 3-400 yards long and 100 yards wide its still 3' deep. We use a blade on our front wheel assist and a blower on our 873 Bobcat. No sign of our farm cats - they maybe blew away!!!
Laredo, that sounds pretty nasty. We haven't had enough snow yet to get drifts like that. We've had the wind though.
I remember playing in drifts like that as a kid. Those are some pretty good memories.
My road was blocked right at the start of my drivway to my place. I hand shovel 50 ft of 3 ft snowdrifts to get in the yard. That was not too bad. The snow was packed from the wind and able to shovel in chunks. Got a narrow path to drive in.
The grader came by when I went out. He plowed the snow from where the road was impassible. And piled it *&%#@%**& in front of my shoveled gate to my place. Why they do this I don't know. What is wrong with putting the other blade down to keep the snow from being pushed into your drivway. They do this every winter and every time they plow. It is really irratating. Now I had to reshovel to get in.
I need the RM here to answer this for me.

How do you like the blower on the 873? I`ve got an 8ft snow bucket for my S250, almost wish I had bought an S300.
Our cats weren`t around for day or two but most are back now. I think they found a warmer building then were they usually stay as it`s partly open at one end in it.
No kidding there is still so much snow here and the ice is horrible oh man i feel sorry for my truck driving in these dam ice rivets or w/e they call em and stuff its like iam offroading bouncing everywhere

Blower seems sweet. We were comparing the bobcat blower and the schulte. The bobcat was $1000 more. Both seem built quite comparable but the controls on the bobcat are so much more refined - use a factory wiring harness that nicely mounts by the aux. hyds and the buttons on your levers control chute swivel and top discharge deflector. Schulte uses a different wiring system - electric winch to swivel and manual adjust top deflector. How are the 's' series? Dad was looking at a 300 figures we should trade up. I say good to go as long as he pays the difference.
The S series is abit different, mainly the engine is a Kabota instead of a Deutz.
Some things I liked better about the 873 and some are better on the S.
One thing I don`t like about the S is there is alot more diesel smoke ideling or running. The first time I used the S after dark when walking back to it ideling I thought it was on fire from the smoke coming it!
Bobcats and their accessories are always much more refined. I tried out a Case skid steer and it wasn`t any where near a Bobcat for design, features or comfort. Plus I like white better!
