Remove the back and engine-side of the airbox, with the top of the filter and the intake neck on the top of the filter housing. a .25 turn CCW will remove the temperature sender, and leave the FilterMinder in the stock piece, you won't need to reuse it. If you are having problems getting the filter inside of the intake pipe, you can use a piece of short 4" exhaust piping you can find as "scrap" at a local big rig shop. 3-4" is all you need lengthwise. I heated and pried my intake pipe over the filter neck and its doing fine.
The ambient air temp sensor, you can just zip tie them somewhere out of harm's way, usually to a brake line under the master cylinder. Leave it plugged in. And, the filter minder with the spring and the reset button, just leave that in the stock part unless you want to work it on to the new filter with some cutting.
Kris, I went to a local muffler shop and bought a 4", 45 deg. bend for about $15. I had to trim several inches off of it to fit but it made a fine connection between the filter and the "snorkel" tube. I also had to reverse the snorkel 180 deg. to get the angles just right into the CCV-Turbo adapter.
Very tight between the intercooler pipe and the master cylinder but I was able to tie it up out of the way a little.
I had to remove the stock airbox completely. I've heard of others modifying the lower half of the box but the 8.5" diameter of the 6637 just didn't look right doing that.
I used a 4" muffler clamp to get the filter neck to seal against the 4" pipe. Tight but it worked.
I bought a 4" to 4" rubber PVC connector from Home Depot that had a pipe clamp on each end. Both Pieces fit snugly in the connector and are air tight with the clamps tightened down and it only added about an inch to the lenght. It was a tight fit but it made it. Make sure you also get a filter coozy made for that 6637....https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...637-cover.html
