I recieved this info from a friend who is a farmer, and it makes sense.
Why are Ford's exhausts always on the right-hand side?
Ford trucks built up their reputation as a tough, dependable farm truck. In the mid- to late 60's, manufacturers of horse trailers standardized the design of their trailers. It was decided that in larger trailers of 3-6 horse capacity, that the horses should stand facing the left hand side of the vehicle, angled towards the front. Naturally, since Fords were the most popular truck to tow with, the exhausts were moved to the right hand side, to prevent aspyxiation of the animals. Chevy didn't really care, since their trucks aren't built to haul a gooseneck trailer anyways, and they left the exhaust on the left hand side. Pretty cool, huh?

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Seems to me that most times the fuel filler will be on the opposite side from the exhaust pipe. I cannot remember one FoMoCo that had the exhaust on the same side as the filler.. Except a '57 Sunliner with dual exhausts...

good brain teaser... the falcons and mustangs filled in the back panel while the exhaust exited at the rear, and the later torinos' filled behind the license plate. the behind the plate deal wasn't one of fomocos better idea's. have a great day
