P0402 code EGR system

P0402 code EGR system
My 2002 Escape keeps coming up with this code. Replaced DPFE sensor and it returned. EGR valve checks ok. Swapped it with a known good one, same code.
Cleared all codes prior toworking on vehicle.
Does anyone know a good way to clean out the carbon from the the
valve paths.
Any advise and suggestions appreciated.

You may have gotten a faulty DPFE replacement. See this thread for voltage measurements to confirm:
