I am thinking about doing the Jag IFS/IRS swap. I have read that the late 70's to early 90's XJ6 to XJ12 are what would work in the F100's.
Is there a specific year or range that would be better than others for my 54 F100??
Also, the bold pattern are chevy is the 5x4 pattern a common chevy size if not what's the cost to get those changed??
Last but not least, anyone have any idea on the cost of rebuilding the IFS?? I read in the Jag posts (the long one) that the cost was around $900. If that's the case I could get a MII hub to hub for $1,369 from Southern Rods. http://www.southernrods.com/categori...duct-1850.html Depending on the cost of the IFS it maybe better to go with the MII. Does anyone have an opinion on southernrods' MII because it is the cheapest I've seen so far by far.
Sorry for all the questions but I would rather ask now than after the fact. I am going to start calling around some yards to see how $$ much and the availability of the Jag IFS/IRS so I wanted to get some answers before I go to the trouble.
We have a good thread going titled Jag XJ IFS. I have tried to get everyone to assemble the Jag info there m(as much info in the one thread as possible). Take a look at that thread. I will try to give you and answer to your questions there.
I have read both of those and they were pretty good w/lots of info. I was wondering if there is a particular year that is better to use than late 70's to early 90's XJ's which I got from the Jag IFS thread. In otherwords if a particular year range is a better fit or has better components before I start looking around.

Look in the other thread for the answer to your questions including years
The april 05 issue of Street Rod Builder magazine has a good article on a Jag IRS install. The replacement parts for the IFS aren't much different than any other import. If you find a good donor, you may not have to do a full rebuild, or perhaps you can put it off for awhile. Check multiple sources on parts, don't forget your local import parts house. The bolt pattern is actually 5/120mm, which converts to 5/4.73. The common rwd GM pattern is 5/4.75. Chevy wheels fit fine.
