i have a 93 ranger with a 3 l engine. i have replaced the main and rod bearings, new oil pump and the pressure now sits at 55 cold and about20 when warm[mechanical guage] the warm psi seems to be on the low side as i woul think that a spread of about 20 psi between hot and cold should be about normal. sam
that is about what i thought . are there any other items unique to this engine that i should be looking at. the engine was very clean inside when i took it apart sam
The 3.0L oil pressure of 40-60 psi @ 2500 rpm is all I've found specified also.
I think MazdaRangerGuy is about right.
My old Merc Zypher, with the 3.3L, using 10W-30, with the specified thermostat & fully warmed up at idle, indicates about 15-20 psi & about 50-60 psi off idle, on it's oil pressure gauge I installed, depending on the rpm, engine temp & oat.
