400 more power

Hi New To the site but i have a 79 ford f150 4x4 with a 400 1000 miles on rebuild c6 new and np205 200 miles on rebuild. the carb is a Edelbrock Performer 1400 and Edelbrock intake and long tube headers. msd coil.

with all this $ in the truck u can see i dont have much more money that the wife will let me spend for under 500 what can i do to get more power i have heard that a timing chain kit.for some unknow reason did get an aftermarket cam for the rebuild my fault so i would like to stay away from the cam route. any help would be help full.

Hello, welcome to FTE!

Find out what timing chain was used during the rebuild.

the guy says that every thing is stock. that is the only info thay can give me

Get the aftermarket timing kit and some roller rockers would be that route id probably go, but definitly listen to everyones ideas.

thank u i looked up the roller rockers and the only pedestal mount ones i could find were Ford Racing Pedestal Mount Roller Rocker Arms for $361.39 that is way to much for what u get from then is there any cheaper then that.

Check the pedestal mount Scorpions at (TMI), that is what I have.

EDIT- It looks like you already have the basics. After you check out that timing chain maybe a good dyno tune would be in order to get it all working right.

thank u for all the help i am now planing to cange the rokers and chain set and get the tune if i do the cam what would u guys recomend for my set up. i use the truck for mostle off roading i only have 4in lift with 33x12.5 mud but u would be suprised by were i can get it.thank u for all the help my whole family is in to jeeps but i like the 70' ford i have had nothing but. so i need people that can help me with the ford and u guys are it thank u

Dizzy change or not

I have heard some complaints about Proform. The stock distributor is as good as any. Save your money.

I like the ease of upgrading the Duraspark with the Mallory ignition box per the Ford Muscle Redneck article.

i like the idea but how could it work if it uses the stock buzz box whould it only be as acurite as the stock on i see that it has cd but what abut acurise
