Well it might be more of a hammer then a chunk. Usally 3 of them in rapid sucsession then nothing. It happens when you are driving straight or turning. There seems to be a drag on the truck when you are cruising and you let you foot off the gas it slows down as if there is a brake dragging. The hammer is not really felt in the steering wheel at all and you can kinda feel the fibration in the gas pedal. When it hammers it feels like it is under the driver as if the transfer case is the culprit. The other day after it hammered the vibration was gone for a few days aswell as the drag. i am wondering if there is an issue with the electronic controlled transfer cases on these 92 f-150's. The transfercase has oil in it mind you i do not know when it was changed last or even what type i need to put in it. Anyone else ever had an issue like this? Your help would be appreciated.
I don't have any slop in the u joints on the drive shafts. My fron ent was just apart and re built. It does a similar nasty clunk when turing hard left in 4x4 i thought fron u joints but they were checked and the one bad one was replaced.
