Warn seems to be a premium winch, they also make a discount line called either tabor or magnum. I have a real Warn and could not be happier with it, but I don't use it much. Superwinch, ramsey and milemarker are decent choices, but I am more comfortable with warn for support issues. Your truck should be around the 6K range, so the smallest winch I would recommend is a 9k. If you use a winch often, 12k might be a better choice. A M1200 or XP9000 is where you should start in compairing anyother brands.

I haven't see a screw driven one. You want a good quality, planetary geared winch. The planetery is where some companies go wrong, they use either cheap parts or too few satilites.

I also run a Warn winch(15,000) on my F250 but I'm sure any brand will do just as fine. From what i understand a good rule to go off of as far as winch size is 1 1/2 times the weight of the truck. So if your truck is around 6000 a 9000 should work fine. I have yet to use mine to get me out it seems I'm always the rescue truck. Hope this helps

i am a fan of milemarker winches. they are cheaper than warn an friends say they last longer and are more reliable. with warn i think you pay for the name a little too much.
