Got me a few oil sample analysis kits from oil guard and thought I'd send a few engine & transmission oil samples to them for analysis!
If only it were that easey!
Damned post office wont accept them for postage!
They say they are flammable liquids and too risky to air mail!
For crying out fricken loud, a couple ounces of used engine oil is gonna bring down a jumbo jet????
This worlds fricken screwed - you can't do jack shyte anymore without some doogooder finding an excuse as to why you can't!
This sucks bigtime!
This is bullshenhyzer!
People post oil samples all over the world all the time for analysis!
If I'd lied on the form and said they were urnine samples....no problemo!
It's not terrorists and anthrax they gotta worry about, it's angry F truck owners - right now I'd like to go down the post office and lubricate a few postal workers azzes with some used engine oil....ready to accept the sample jars with as little pain as possible!
Stuff me drunk - why do we put up with this shyte - just sack the pr!cks and get us someone who actually WANTS a job!
This is such bullshyte!
I'll end up driving them to a local lab and paying AGIAN to get the analysis done locally!
i know black stone lab has a page that you print out to bring to the post office..it tells them that little amount of oil and the way it is packadge is very safe and legal to sent through the mail...
Heres a link to Blackstones Letter for USPS http://www.blackstone-labs.com/postal_letter.html It might help. Also you could print out the MSDS for the fluids and take that with you, they will have the flashpoint and volitility numbers so you can prove it is safe.
To ship overseas you need to complete a customs declaration which also asks about dangerous goods!
It was marked engine oil samples for analysis!
The idiot at the post office asked the wrong person - and was told no - flammable liqwuids are classified as dangerous goods and can't be air freighted!
So I rang the packaging area of dangerous goods and they confirmed oil flashpoint is way abo0ve flammable liquids temps - and CAN be legally sent!
What Pees me off is its a 60 miles round trip to the post office!
They shoulda got it right (it only talkes a phone call) - we the customer ALWAYS pays for their mistakes!
When i go to post it for the second time - they are NOT gonna reimburse me for my time & travel due to their mistake!!
I just get so peed off with public servants who are so fricken useless - but then I guess thats WHY they are public servants....no one else would employ them!
I'm over it now...nothing to see here - move along!
it would be interesting if they found bearing material in your urine.
Man - the way I am grinding gears down here over this - it wouldn't surprise me if they found chunks a metal cogs in my urine sample!
Damn me if i aint going to a different post office tomorrow - and I'm gonna put "Human fecal samples" on the damn customs declaration.....lets see which postal guru's game enough to go pickin thru the box to see if it's dangerous goods then!
Damn me...I'm bout ready to stangle someone with my bare hands...i think i have a dose of SOL! Yep - shyte on the liver!
Flywest is right, though. I had a go around with my local PO about it. The postmaster was very nice and made some phone calls, but in the end it was a NO! Not even with the blackstone letter and emphasizing how it would be inside 2 plastic bottles inside a plastic bag. If you lie, and they find it upon inspection, you are in deep cowpie. They are no supposed to ship it according to their guidelines, however, i just think most postal employees dont really care. OTOH, new oil wouldnt be a problem. Go figure.
Good advice there Pop. I've never had any problems with shipping mine. I print a label and pay postage from home using the Post Offices's online service. Then I just leave it in my mailbox and let the carrier pick it up.
