I have a depsoit on a 2005 F-350 SC SB 6.0 with the snowplow package. One of the main reasons that I'm moving up to a one ton truck from my '99 250LD is that I plan on using a "lightweight" slide-on camper (about 2000lbs) with it.
Other than adding a rear swaybar and maybe airbags should I be concerned that the truck doesn't have the camper package?
no, the snow plow package actually gives you the highest weight rated front springs (one step above what you get with the camper or heavy service packages) and everything else is the same
billtrev, your F250 is fine. I have a 2000 that did NOT come equiped with any kind of Ford manufacturing "camper package"....just had a Lance Camper guy put on the happy-jac attachments and sway bar. Did the electrical attachment at front of bed too.......It carries a "lightweight" Lance (about 2000 lb) just fine..........
My 06 f-250 with plow prep package has a note in the glove box that this truck is not certified to carry a camper. Redford -- thanks for the info --looks like i need a rear stabilizer.
Leader, While I'm sure the the '99 LD would be able to carry the camper, I'm guessing I would be about 700 to 1000 lbs overweight.(2300lbs payload vs 2000lbs dry camper + passengers, gear, food, water, propane, ect.) If it were a Super Duty I would be much more comfortable with it. With the LD I'm concerned that I'll be at or over the rear GAWR, plus its a great excuess to get a F-350 diesel!
