I am looking to get more power from my truck. It does ok but id like to get a bit more. I have a 90 F-150 with a 300-6. Normally a pretty good motor but im running 36x12.50 super swampers so lets just say its not quite a speed demon. Ive had the tranny rebuilt to the max and the rear end is the same. I guess i have all the power i need I would just like to get some more speed out of it. 50 mph is about all i like to take it and she starts to struggle a bit. I dont have alot of money so I didnt know if you all know any little tricks for me. I was thinking i could go to a less aggressive tire? Maybe a cooper or a goodyear. Im not sure if that would help.
how much was your tranny rebuild? and im sure you hav the usual power adders like exhaust and intake, but honestly i don't know that thier is much stuff for the i6
Lower the gear ratio in the differential to get your power back so you can turn those 36's. Other than that need more motor or a new batch of Dilithium Crystals so you can get up to Warp Speed Captain. Turning big tires is no easy task especially with an I-6, Bye the way did you change your speedo gear so it would indicate correctly, you might actually being going much faster than what it indicates if you have not.
if u didnt can ur speedo it is way off... i have 33s on my truck wiht the straight six. even wiht the stock gearing i can stilll get the tires spinning in 2nd. but wiht my truck when my speedo says im doin 75 i am really doin about 90.. yea i couldnt believe it either untill i got pulled over... and those are only 33s so wiht ur 36s ur way off. hope this helps...
