Rearend Gear choice

For the '56 i'm working on I'm going to put an 8.8" rearend under it from a Lincoln mark series car. I'm putting in a FI 5.0 Mustang motor with an aod tranny. I was just wondering which gear ratio would be suitable for my application. Thanks

This is a really iffy topic, there are so many opinions as what to use, if you search the threads in the 61-79 part, you'll find many debates about this topic.

Rearend Gear choice

My plans call for a chevy 350/700r4 with 30% overdrive. about 28 in. tires and am presently searching for 3.89:1 gears for my 9" That is like having a final gear ratio of 2.72:1 in od. Ed ke6bnl
