After reading this I have some questions. #1 is what is the power delay thing banks talks about that can take up to 60 seconds to react?? #2 can it be disabled? #3 is there another brand that can do the same thing?
My main question is what is it and why the power delay??
From the Banks site:
Banks' optional OttoMind engine-calibration module matches the fuel curve to airflow improvements, so there is no over-tuning. OttoMind optimizes efficiency and prolongs durability by calibrating fuel to driving conditions. Banks removes the factory-imposed power delay, which impedes responsiveness up to 60 seconds—so you get instantaneous power when your throttle demands it. OttoMind extends power and mileage gains and puts substantially more horsepower and torque at the shift points
I asked this question a few years ago. Basically it is a shift improvement strategy by Ford to ensure smoother shifts and long service life of the tranny.
