It's different all over the place.
In Alberta,it's about $7.20 but minimum wage these days doesn't mean anything.

People are so hard up for people to work for them they are offering $4-$5 an hour OVER mimimum wage.

It's $9.14 per hour here, but the average cost of a house is around a "billion" dollars, though; give or take a sawbuck

I think Ontario's at $6.85. Not sure if it's been upped to $7.15 yet like it's supposed to

Its the equivelant of about US$11 here... but most jobs are paying AT LEAST 4 or 5 dollars over that.

And I reckon we could give Cali's house prices a run for thier money (no pun intended)

Should be dependant on skill level. If you're a slobbering dunderhead with no skills then a buck an hour for you.

It's $5.15/hr. now nationally. The proposals were to get it up to $7-7.50 in two jumps over a couple years. Around here, though, I think even the fast food joints are paying that starting out due to the low unemployment.

Minimum wage does tend to take us out of a reward system.

Thank you, jroehl...You just explained in 4 sentences how the free market works........Now if only they'd actually allow it to work. The minimum wage issue is a non-issue.

Correct about free markets and minimum wage.

Minimum wage is an employer's way of telling you "well, you're worth less, but the government won't let us."

I heard that minimum wage workers account for about .5% (point five percent; one half of one percent) of the work force here in the U.S.
