I have a 1997 F250 XL HD standard cab (the old body style) that I would like to swap the bench seat for something a little nicer. I hate bench seats but could live with the 60/40.
Multi-part question.....
1. What are the options for this truck? Was there a split seat (60/40) option? What about buckets?
2. What model years can I look for an exact swap in?
3. What would I need to take out of the donor vehicle? Are the mountings the same for all the seats?
You can get either the 60/40 split or captains chairs. Any seat from a 1980 to 1996 truck or Bronco will work. You need the brackets from the seats, they will bolt right into your cab floor.
I did it a few years ago. I had a Bronco with bench seats that were broken. I swapped in a pair of eddie bauer captains chairs and they fit fine.
I've had 15 Fseries many with buckets . There was no 60 40.(accroding to 2-4 ford flyers I have. They are in newer trucks The only thing direct bolt in is buckets(40 20 40 if had center jumperseat) or bench . The jumper seat back folds down for arm rest. Very little stroge. The bucket console combo is what I get. (armrest on buckets themselves.)Though the console is cheep looking .I like to make my own , higher and larger out of oak. I mounted a Tv and power jacks in back of mine for the KIds. (don't have to worrie about that.) You will need seats . seat belts . (if the console models as thy stand by them selves.) You will need to drill and reinfoce whatever type you put in center. Any seat out of 90's Bronco or truck will fit (so cloth matches.) But you can go as old as19 80 mount ok but shapes and cloth wont match . Good luck
