I had a Rol-bak on my 99. Waiting to save up the money to get on on my new 06. Made from metel like the Pace Edwards ones, but have powder coat on top. Also the lock piece is inside the bed so once you lock the tailgate there is no way in with out a saw. Had teh Rol-bak for years and have not thought twice about getting another one once I save up the pennies.
I have a trifold Hardhat Premier from Advantage Truck Accessories. It's reasonably light, but still has hard material. It works well and takes about 5 minutes to take off. It's held on by 4 clamps. I wanted something that would come completely off but be usable with a partially open bed too. I needed to remove it since I can't use it with my truck camper.
I had a Pace Edwards on my last truck. It was a PITA to install and removing it for day use wasn't a reasonable option. Also, it takes up some of the bed space since the cover rolls into the bed.
I got the Access Limited; it has "D" rings on each rail clamp, and a release in the middle of the tailgate rail. The materials are top quality, and the install was easy. The top has a great tension mechanism, and it stays tight.
I've had the SportMaster on all 5 of my SD's
It seems to be a good cover.
What I really like about the SportMaster is that it fits the truck!
The bed rails on a SD have a bow (curve) to them all of the other
covers that I've looked at run straight rails.
For a cover that fits the rails at about $170 take a look at SportMaster.
Fuel mileage...it cant hurt, anything to take the wind off the T-gate should help...

I have the Extang Trifecta on my '06. It was about $330 delivered. It is very simple to install and remove, takes less than 10 minutes. 2 wingnuts up front to clamp it under the bed lip and two spring latches at the rear to keep the back side clamped down. Takes about 20 seconds to open or close it. The only negative side is that when you unfold it the front 2.5 feet of the bed is still covered making it difficult if you have a long tall item. Plus side is that all you have to do is loosen the 2 wing nuts and take it completely off. Also, if you lock your tailgate the items in your bed are secure, unless of course someone cuts the cover open.
Anybody use the Undercover tonneaus covers? I priced them from two different dealers in my area from about $750 to $850. Just wondering about quality and durability.
I have a cover purchashed from a local truck accessory shop for $349. Not exactly sure about the manufacturers name, but the part number is TEK-724499. It's soft vinyl with support bars, rolls out and utilizes levers to tighten; velcro along the sides. Installed it myself in about 30 minutes, no drilling. Great in all temperatures so far (F250 LB).
I have the retractable cover and have driven with it in both the retracted (open) and closed positions and have not noticed any real difference in the MG's. I heard that the design of the truck makes the air funnel behind the cab and over the bed so that the presence (or lack of) of a cover won't make a big difference in fuel economy.
