It's just a "flash tuner" that changes the programming of your trucks computer.

I would not use it... as they can claim anything they want in a lab test. If your determined to by a tuner, there are other brands out there that have many more hours of expereince and testing for your truck.

There are many threads on this site that people have discussed "tuners and chips"... so read on. Look for SCT brand (Super Chips).

However, I causion you that by adding a tuner and not doing other mods, you WILL push your motor harder and faster than it was designed to go and will create other problems.

Why do people by a truck and then want better mileage? Don't people know what these trucks get or don't get before they buy??? Why does everyone look for the "magic pill or tuner"???

If you want mileage... by a compact car for when your not towing...

Beach,
I have noticed over the years here that most buy a truck for transportation and because they think it is cool. I am not judging anyone by any means. Buy what you want. It's your money. I do agree, though, that it seems odd so many people have trucks, and for that matter, the ultra high horsepower cars, and never use them for what they were built for. Right now I am having a hard time finding a replacement for my truck that was stolen. I need an 8' bed, but most get the short box.

Try Grand Ledge Ford they have lots of pickups most of the time on the lot. Go to www.grandledgeford.com and check out their listing. maybe they might have what you need. Good luck and sorry to hear you had problems. You and KW5413 have the same problem. Hopefully not catching.

I do alot of towing with this truck. I don,t think it is a big deal to ask the question. Is this not a place to ask such as question. Is there anybody who has the mileage miser? maybe you could tell me what you think, and how this product works for you. This is not my first truck enduringexplorer.

Not to step in... but it is the place to ask and there are a lot of choices when it comes to flash tuners for these trucks.... some better than others.

I have never seen this brand name mentioned here at FTE... but I could be wrong. There are many threads and in the main forum page, there is a forum for aftermarket tuners and chips and other mods.

What is hard is whem people ask about "tuners" for extra mielage... it also means they want extra HP to make a race car out of their truck... which is very cool!!!!

However, when adding a tuner, one needs to keep in mind that they may need an intake, exhust and a beefier tranny... "so are you prepared to cross over to the otherside LUKE" (That was my best Star Wars impression I could do)...

Banks makes a good system

SCT (Superchips) is good

and many others are out there... so good luck comparing... but the brand you mention must be a new one on the market...or at least not a popular one here at FTE???

Welcome... and again yes, this is the right place to ask...

Slowmans let me know if you hear about this unit. I saw it advertised in diesel power magazine. I called granatelli and they said it works, but they said they dropped the milage guarantee! Go to their web site, and look at the install videos.

A race car out of their truck?!?! Now who would do something silly like that? Oh yeah, me.

Don't really need an intake. The stock donaldson is good for some pretty high end stuff and has been tested that way.
A cat-back is a good idea simply because it helps keep the EGT's down. If you're going for a mild tune for better MPG, you can just pop off the cat and it works better too.
Tranny, not until you really get nuts. All I've done to my tranny is simply a new torque converter and programming. Although, compared to many, I haven't gotten to nuts yet.

After MUCH research, I sold my Edge Juice Platinum and purchased an SCT with custom tune files from Innovative Diesel. These way outperformed the Edge and there is a Tow file that keeps the EGT's in check and adds performance and MPG. I would highly recommend you look into an SCT. There are several guys on here that offer them with custom programs:
Innovative Diesel
Long Island Performance Diesel
Elite Diesel
DJ's Performance
and a few others. These guys all know the 6.0L backwards and forwards. Get ahold of any of them and talk about what you want for your truck and they'll tell you what they can do.

This should be an indication of what type of results to expect.

You won't get any better results than an SCT with an extreme tune driving it under 2200 rpms as others here have already stated. To many parameters involved in making the engine more effcient also cross paths with enhanced performance. Basicly you cannot have one without the other. The key is in the way you drive with said tune loaded. This has been true reguardless of brand, if you can keep your foot out of it, the highest performance level always netted the highest fuel mileage gains. This has been my observation with all the different tuners discussed here since late 03'.

somy, i got the elbow from accufab and got it right from there website, i got the polished version it was around 180 bucks, to be honest i havent driven the truck enough to tell if it is getting better mileage, ( ive been on vacation) even though ive had it on for a couple of weeks. does seem to have a little more power in the peddle though? as far as the miser.... the mileage guarentee is no longer a promise? wtf? ok that will definetly not be a product i buy, alot of people are happy with the sct tunes im thinking of gong that way, i just dont want to twist my heads, i dont think i have the revised version of the 06 6.0, my build date on the motor is from sept. of 05, best of luck in your decesions!
