Hi, Just to throw my 2 cents in, white smoke from the exhaust can be caused by a faulty EGR cooler, which is caused by a leaking head gasket, which the dealer should be ably to see. Unliked a conventially faulty head gasket that will leak internally, the 6.0 has a habit of leaking externally, which is caused by the Faulty head bolts stretching. You'll never get Ford to admit the faulty design, and their solution is usually just to keep throwing out ideas and making the customer pay.
I got hosed good. The truck and engine aren't you biggest problem, It's Fords crappy customer service, and the dealers who won't let their mechanic out of the shop to go to school.

wrong, wrong, and wrong. nothin here is stated correctly. the head gaskets dont cause the egr coolers to fail. on the ones that do fail due to the head gaskets, they fail because of the excess pressure. the 6.0 head gaskets i have seen have never been external leak. also every 6.0 tech has to be certified at some point and time.
to me it sounds like you are disgruntled, and needed a place to vent. well feel free to vent here because we all do at some time, but dont hijack somebody's thread to do so. that is not polite.
Hi, If I am WRONG, WRONG, AND MORE WRONG, I am only quoting Vic Bailey Ford
in Spartanburg SC when they told me it would be between $5,000-$6,000
to fix and Ford isn't going to offer any help.
I also must have been confused about the 20 or so posts on this forum, and
50 plus elsewere on the net. But what do I know, Oh Yeah, ALOT!

Now, be very careful where this conversation goes from here! There is several guys on here that have been elbow deep in these motors as well (I being one of them). Not being arguementative, but it sounds like you talked to a service advisor, and he blew smoke up your tailpipe (we have a couple here). Bowtiehatr gave you sound information--its up to you if you wish to believe it. If you need experienced help, dont make posts like this! We both (bowtie and I) have extensive time involved in the 6.0.
Thank you for your reply. There is no doubt that i'm getting the shaft, but that's what happens when your truck breaks down 500 miles from home. Thanks
Jatrevino, sorry to hear about the bad luck. I would be curious to see the repair history on your truck. Would you mind posting your vin # so I can check OASIS?
Maybe that would help shed some light on the situation.

Sorry about your luck. Now let this thread continue on it's course.

Did the truck have 100,000 ,miles on it when you bought it?
If not why did you not buy the transferable engine warranty at a small cost?
OASIS report should tag the truck for any past problems. Did your service dealer do that for you and have you discussed this with them?
If the truck was sold to you by a Ford dealer and they didn't reveal to you that it was chipped then I'd be talking with a lawyer and telling the service dealer the same thing.
Their ain't no such a thing as a hidden programmer. Any decent Ford service tech knows this.
Sounds to be like you are dealing with a bunch of rookies.
I'd be asking them to put it on a roll back and to take it to your service dealer of choice. Ford customer service can help you with finding another service dealer for a second opinion.
Yes the truck had 112000 when I purchased it, and the chip I was talking about is wired in the engine and was placed behind the battery. That was the reason I HAD NEVER SEEN IT. i PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM A SMALL DEALERSHIP AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED THE CHIP. As of right now the truck is at Team Ford dealership in Humble Texas and from what they have said is they have a "very experienced" ford engineer working on it. That's why I was confused that they could not figure out the problem by now. They have b.s. me around for a while so Iam tired of all of it and am ready to get the truck back.

what was this "chip" that was hidden behind the battery wired to? I dont see how it worked. Seems like the OBD would'nt let it interface. When someone says they "chipped" their truck they dont mean they actualy installed the chip. They just reprogrammed the chip already in the truck. It just seems that if there was a way to install a interface to rechip the truck it would be a whole lot cheaper to just buy a tuner.
Well what it looks like is a little case with four wires , two on each side. one of the wires runs to the battery and the others I really havent followed them to see where they are connected. Now I used to own a 454 and I had an MSD injectors booster put in it but this looks nothing like that. So I really can't say what it actuallly does or haow it was connected.
