Make sure that the engine is NOT a 2003. Some 2004 trucks had the 2003 6.0 in them. The injectors and the turbo were notorious for failing. You can look this up on the engine itself. Should be on the back of the left head cover (left is drivers side). The original warranty was used up, check to see if the previous owner had any ESP's on the engine and drive train. Ford should be able to tell you. Dealers make all the difference. Some are really out to screw you, believe me. What exactly did they mean "it skipped time" ? Does this mean the injectors were not delivering fuel at the correct time ? My understanding is that the 2003 and 2004 engines are very different. I remember many changes were made.
rimshoes, that is exactly what the dealership told me. these people at the dealership have told me that they had to send out for a engineer cause they could not figure it out and that it was something very rare to them. well whatever it was i don't think it takes a month to get this job done.
these people at the dealership are "screwing me" and i wish there were a way to get this dealership to get their job done quicker. i would also like to know how much this job should actually cost.
I can recommend Mac Haik over here on the West side at SHT/Beltway 8 & I-10/Katy freeway, just East of SHT and on South side of I-10. They do a lot of commercial diesel truck work and have mant tech's.
What kind of a warranty are you gonna have when they finish? And when you drive it out of the dealership, make sure you drive out with one of the diesel techs in the passenger seat.
"diesel tech in the passenger deat"? and as far as the warranty from my understanding all the components that they are replacing are covered for 60,000 miles
don't i know. well hopefully all goes well once they finish the truck. i plan on selling the truck do to the fact that i don't ever want to deal with a situation like this again. hopefully i can get what i want out of it ofcourse losing some money but definately not getting screwed over on the deal.
well these guys finally called me back from the dealership and said that the tech has put the injectors in and tried to crank it up and started right up ........................ except once you try to step on the gas the the truck cuts off again. what the heck is going on i'm very fusterated. these guys are suppose to be experts in this field and can't find the problem. this is really realy getting to be a major headache.
