I’m not telling anyone what filter they should or shouldn’t run, I am just giving you my personal experience. Many years ago I use to run Fram in everything I had from farm tractors to trucks, I changed the oil filter on one of our farm trucks and about 50 miles later while going down the road the oil pressure fell to 0 psi. I pulled over shut it off, Checked the oil level and it was good. I crawled under the truck and found that the Fram oil filter was all sucked in. So I replaced the filter and about 150 miles later it happened again, this time I put a wix filter on it and have never had a problem since. I have run with wix filters for the past 10 years without a single problem.
Again I’m not trying to tell anyone what to do.
I was running Mobil Delvac 1, but that is no longer available.
So I will be running regular Mobil 1 at the next oil change, my drum is empty.
Mobil 1 exceeds the oil requirements of the IDI engine (CD or CF).
It does not have enough anti foaming agents for the Power Stroke engines that use high pressure oil to fire the injectors though. However Mobil 1 Turbodiesel truck OIl does meet or exceed CI-4, CH-4, CG-4 and CF which the Power Stroke engines need.
I have heard about Fram filters doing that before so I have always kept away from using them. The filters by-pass should kick in first so it doesn't suck the canister on to itself. But when you go by those filter cut away displays they always seem to have a Fram sitting there, and it is always the worst of the group.

Never heard of that happening before. Those filters seem pretty sturdy but ya never know I guess. I am wondering though if the 550psi burst pressure of the K&N filter exceeds other brands. They also claim 20 down to 10 microns for filtering. The more I research their filter, the more I feel inclined to buy it.
Everyone has there own favorite filter.. I personally would not put a Fram on anything but the garbage can... but thats me I use Motorcraft filters on everything I own I have never had a failure.. even on my old 427 ford fe engines in my old boat that would peg the oil pressure gage on cold starts.. never once blew a filter off.. So do what you want its your truck!
i run the same set up as winger but i use royale purple motor oil instead of amsoil but thats a coincidence many people have many different things they do and ues and one of them is oil preference so go with what u prefer and if it dont work try one someone else uses
I won't post the URL, but do a search for "minimopar engine oil filter study". It's very interesting. It's a listing of results from a guy who cut open every brand of oil filter he could find. He doesn't bias one versus another, simply lists what he found.
I will never buy Fram.
I've also put the Powerstroke filter in my IDI a few times but get a little rubbing from the brake line that runs laterally along the frame support. I was worried of rubbing through the line so I went back to the smaller IDI filter.

I looked into that site you mentioned and it appears that they don't have anything about the K&N filter up yet...I did find quite a bit of other good information though! Thanks for the tip.
