Escape engine removal

I've got to pull a 3.0 4v out of an 03 escape here at work, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about either dropping the engine and transmission together down or pulling them from the top. I've done several transmissions in these, and it's always a pain to get to one bellhousing bolt on the back side of the engine. You have to remove the generator to remove the exhaust manifold to remove a bracket to remove the transfer case to remove.... one bolt. I'm thinking if I can pull both units together, I'll have a lot easier time. I have the correct equipment to do this either way safely, so I'm wondering what could stop me. Any thoughts out there?

Did you get it out yet?
I don't think they will fit out the top.
I've done a couple out the bottom and it's not really all that bad.
